Cybernaptics and the University of Mauritius Forge Research Collaboration in Robotics and AI

A Milestone Partnership

On 3rd November 2021, a significant step was taken in the field of technological research as the University of Mauritius (UoM) and Cybernaptics signed a Research Collaboration Agreement (RCA). The ceremony, held at the UoM Lecture Theatre in RĂ©duit, marked the beginning of a promising collaboration between academia and industry in the realms of Robotics Process Automation (RPA) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Bridging Academic and Industry Expertise

This partnership aims to foster innovation by bridging the gap between academic research and practical industry applications. Under the RCA, Cybernaptics will sponsor a UoM postgraduate student conducting research in RPA and AI, providing a platform for developing solutions that address real-world challenges.

A Forum for Future Technologies

The signing ceremony was followed by a forum-debate on “Future of Work, Digital Transformation, and the Future of our Economy.” This event brought together experts to discuss the impact and role of digitalization in shaping the future of employability and the economy.

A Commitment to Technological Advancement

Professor Dhanjay Jhurry, Vice-Chancellor of UoM, emphasized the university’s commitment to developing business capital alongside human and intellectual capital by partnering with the private sector. He stated, “This partnership with Cybernaptics is most welcome.”

Viv Padayatchy, Managing Director of Cybernaptics, highlighted the importance of preparing the workforce for a technology-driven economy, stating, “As Mauritius transitions to a higher income country, we are faced with the challenge of preparing our workforce for an increasingly technological economy. Our traditional model of leveraging wage arbitrage to attract labour-intensive but low-value work will no longer be relevant for Mauritius.”

Towards Intelligent Automation

Cybernaptics’ sponsorship will support research aimed at transitioning to intelligent automation through machine learning and AI. This collaboration represents a significant step towards developing innovative solutions that can transform industries and drive economic growth.
